Malcolm Kindred (b. 1996, Queens, NY) is a BFA student in Photography at Parsons School of Design (May, 2019). Malcolm’s portraits celebrate the plurality of African identities, expression and style. Grappling with a complicated childhood, his video works express the enduring psychological effects of toxic domestic environments as well as the analysis of interpersonal relationships. For his thesis exhibition, Malcolm is combining family photos with tropes of Afrofuturism to create a new narrative for his personal evolution.
